Hey friends!
Big thanks to everyone for the support so far for Luke’s wonderful album, tapes are sold out but still some CDs left and digital half price until Friday x
Here’s a bit from Luke about the process and ideas behind it :)
“The album is a continuation of the musical themes introduced in my 'World of Inherent Noise’ album released on Miracle Pond.
I think the approach of pushing background sounds and other microphone oddities, into the foreground, fitted the quiet details spec.
The production techniques I used to give the slow washes and swells, gave the sounds a distinctly nautical vibe, hence the Salt Water reference.
During a family trip to the Pyrenees, me and my brother recorded a load of instruments. Some of the field recordings used were from this trip, as well as other random things recorded directly into the OP-1 mic.
The majority of the album was recorded and arranged on the OP-1, with some cocoquantus moments too. Around half way through the album I ‘upgraded’ my old faithful OP-1 to the shiny field version, which kind of slowed things down while I got used to the new machine.”
Huge thanks to Luke again for making something so lovely, so cool to see someone as talented as him exploring and making the most of such a carefully chosen minimal set-up.
Hope you enjoy!
Much love
Alex
