So much love for Polypores! Two more days of half-price; fields we found rhythm structures 02 out now x
Shout-outs too
Hi friends - hope all good :)
What a beautiful response to the Polypores album!
Stephen’s so well loved on the electronic music scene - one of the most versatile and talented artists around - I Wish There Was a Place Like That finds him in a wonderfully hallucinatory place, another incredible example of where an ultra-creative artist can take the quiet details interpretation.
Two more days of half-price digital and CD stocks getting very low - thank you for all the support so far!
Q&A Part Two coming on Friday - a dive into the instruments and techniques behind the album.
Now some fields we found news :)
Very pleased to share the first in my new series of quarterly EPs, rhythm structures 01.
Four tracks with a stunning Brendon Moeller remix. Something different from me, here’s a couple of bits of early feedback :)
Luke Sanger - “Damn, wasn't expecting this! these are GREAT my dude.”
Stephen J Buckley (Polypores) - “I'm listening to your rhythm structures album, it's fantastic! It's got that FWF dustiness to it, but with beats! Love it.”
Last year I was very ill. It taught me that life is short, so do what makes you happy, now.
Making music is one of those things, so the resolve / relate series was born.
rhythm structures is the juxtaposition to those long-form deep-listening pieces.
I’ve done a lot of reminiscing on my formative musical experiences, and dance-floors across the UK and Europe, particularly London, Leeds and Amsterdam from the late 90s onwards, were fundamental in shaping who I am today, musically and otherwise.
Fabric on a Saturday night (sometimes Friday) and Subdub at the West Indian Centre are the two which stand out, there are many more. Also the countless hours at home or some other living room - listening, making, sharing musical experiences - all part of the melting pot of many genres and ages.
This new series is me making music for these times - something we’d have connected with then, and that still resonates with us today.
As with all my music, performed and recorded to 1/4” tape - live and direct from the machines - no edits, just raw and honest music.
Huge thanks to Brendon Moeller for the rework of rhythm structure 1.1.
Hope you enjoy.
Thanks for listening x

Mat Smith with a lovely review on his Further. blog, here’s an excerpt:
Each has the relentless chugging rhythms of especially solid techno sets, offset by minimal interventions – a cluster of notes approximating a repeating melody, deep bass lines, oscillator sweeps, unfurling drones, tuned percussion – that add to a sense of forward momentum.
… the practice is entirely live, improvising and recording direct to tape. This gives tracks like ‘rhythm structure 1.2’ a spontaneity, almost like he is helming a DJ set and constantly keeping an ear on each track’s energy.
… A powerful – yet restrained – signal of intent
