øjeRum gives some insights into the ideas behind qd17 - En Sten For Solen
Half price digital ends on Friday x
Hi friends - hope all good :)
Thanks again for the wonderful support for qd17, had so many kind words and messages - huge thanks to all of you.
Half price digital ends this Friday and CDs still left if you want x
I asked Paw if he’d like to share anything about the album - true to his poetic nature he was generous enough to send me the following:
With “En Sten For Solen” I wanted to create an atmosphere reminiscent of lying in the sun with your eyes closed, following the shifting patterns and dots painted by the sun on your eyelids; strangely persistent and stubborn but somehow barely there when you try to focus and hold onto them.
Like eye floaters, the gray spots or strands that sometimes disrupt the visual field. Or maybe like dust particles dancing in a ray of light unknowingly falling through the window onto the floor on a lazy afternoon, tangible and intangible at the same time, absence and presence intertwined.
A drawing of senseless figures scattering like passing clouds. The way the sea and the sand dampens and swallows up the surrounding sound. Washed out polaroids. Like when you’re neither fully awake or asleep, neither happy nor sad. Indifferent. Indefinite. A play of chance, noises and shadows, unconscious and latent desire. Childhood memories.
Holding a stone to the sun to be able to see it’s light more clearly, diffused and disoriented by matter and time.
When I first heard the album I was immediately drawn into these hazy and enigmatic atmospheres, somehow familiar yet distant and unknowable - Paw’s words, both astute and perfectly descriptive, capture this feeling so well - I wonder how it’s construed by all of you out there.
To me that’s the beauty of this type of music, universal emotion with the ability to transcend cultural or geographical boundaries - there for anyone that wants to listen.
Huge thanks again to øjeRum for being a part of the series and bringing so much beauty to all of us - and my deepest gratitude to you for your friendship and support too x
Finally a couple of shout-outs:
Ryan from Lost Tribe Sound for the shout-out over on Instagram for artists that have previously been on his label with new albums out - qd16’s Seabuckthorn has put out a couple of awesome releases over there, highly recommend checking them and everything else on this excellent label.

Mike over on KMXT FreeForm Radio for the inclusion of a track from qd17 on his always essential show.
