Hi friends - hope all good :)
Very happy to say that coming next week with a wonderful interpretation of quiet details is hugely gifted Jordan Czamanski, here as Jordan GCZ.
Out next Wednesday 19th February, digital and CD editions. As always the physical edition comes with the unique long-form version of the album and bespoke six panel digi-pack, with separate artwork and glass-mastered CD. Listening party Thursday 20th Feb at 19:00 UK time
Well known in the house and techno world for his unique, jazz-infused solo and collaborative releases and live performances (with the likes of Gal Aner, David Moufang (Move D), Michel Baumann, Steevio, Johan Sharp, Terrence Dixon and more) - Jordan brings an incredible depth of musicality to everything he does.
Add this to releases on the likes of Dekmantel, Rush Hour, Further Records, Source Records, Minimal Detroit Audio, Rawax and more - the love and respect for Jordan is there for all to see.
Hope isn't a Four Letter Word is simply stunning - complex harmonic structures live with beautifully intuitive improvisations, performed on vintage digital synth, Rhodes electric piano, melodica, analogue synths and more.
This is Jordan at his freest, no constraints just him pouring his creativity into an album of total freedom.
Loved Jordan’s music for a long time so it’s an honour to be part of this - so looking forward to sharing it with you!
For now, check out these other releases and go digging - all so good :)
Also very pleased to share the next in my monthly series of long-form pieces, resolve / relate 02.
Huge thanks to everyone that supported rr01 and all the subscribers - lots more to come and this month is the first of many subscriber exclusives - read on :)
Out now, Listening Party Thursday 13th 19:00 UK (please join us if you can, always such positive sessions) - RSVP here
This continues where the first piece left off, layers of slowly evolving tones and textures, allowing the listener to fully immerse themselves and let their focus shift across the elements.
Openness to experience is fundamental to this work - the idea is not to analyse or intellectualise, but to listen deeply, observe and be receptive to whatever shifts in your consciousness occur.
All sounds are generated by analogue means, pure electricity channeled in a modular ecosystem where everything is interconnected and influenced by everything else - a primary experience mirrored in life, here presented in an abstract and contemplative way.
Creation and live performance of the finished pieces on this system allows me to fully express musically that which is difficult to put into words.
Focusing on Serge-inspired patch-programmable techniques further lets me explore the nuances electronic instruments can bring.
This represents my musical thinking and intuition in the present moment, both in terms of the nature of how it’s made, and the timescale between creation and release. All the pieces are made chronologically and within a couple of weeks of sharing.
This month sees the first in the alternate version of each edition, the stasis dub.
Dub music and it’s philosophy has been a huge part of my musical life since my formative years as a teenager - from the first Jamaican masters (and the perfect creative environment and time for its beginnings), through so many of the iterations and music influenced by its boundless originality.
The music I make is a long way from that stylistically - but the ideas and techniques resonate through all my work. I thought long and hard whether to use the word dub - I decided to as a signpost to its influence and an homage to the originators - we all owe them a great deal.
This version is available to everyone at the beginning of the release, then becomes a Bandcamp subscriber exclusive - this is part of building a sustainable artist model while giving everyone the chance to access the music. Neither will be on streaming platforms to reinforce the importance of buying music if we want artists to keep doing what they do.
Community of like-minded souls is essential to all of us, I hope this music connects with you in some way, thank you for listening.
